"Visitors are welcome and encouraged to return to these areas," Lapsley told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on Wednesday.


"But please respect the privacy of residents and visitors who have been affected by the fire," said he, adding "This includes not taking photographs of fire-affected residential areas."


The fire, which is 2,500 hectares in size, is still burning, with local media reporting that up to 300 firefighters are still working to bring it under control.
